1985 Nissan 720 Pickup review from North America
""the magic snow-sled" earns it's nick-name every day"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Original radiator is finally going out. alternator squeals (not the belt).
Exhaust manifold is cracked in two.
Exhaust leak at gasket. (loud)
e-brake doesn't work
blinkers some times don't all work.
Gas-gauge doesn't work.
Speedometer needle disapeared.
Stereo was ripped out.
The only body part that is straight is the hood.
Old motor was tired, but running, 40,000 mile motor from japan installed 60,000 miles ago.
Seats are completely worn out - pillows stuffed under whats left of vinyl is very comphy though.
General comments?
Amazing.
This truck came to the west-coast from the east coast, and has been driven from tennessee to oregon, and to kentucky and back to oregon. it has made at least 50 trips from portland to seattle and back. it has been driven 8 hours a day for months on end (driving survey job). spent 9 years as a ski-town's bartender's commuter (it has seen many a snow-bank, and driven up and down from ski-town (elev. 4000ft to town elev. 400ft) about 1000 times in snow and ice). was buried under snow one year all winter. and now I drive it an hour each way to and from my job on the highways at 65mph. it allways starts. it allways "gets you there".
