2000 Nissan Altima GXE from North America - Comments

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The biggest problem I have with this car is that customer service at Nissan is non-existent. You have to call the dealers constantly to get anything done on your car.

The latest problem on the car was the nut fell off the pulley that holds the belts on my car. The mechanic at Nissan told me this was normal wear and tear. My mechanic said this was a lie. Nuts just don't fall off car engines.

I bought this car because it had good reviews and I needed a reliable car. Nissan might make a descent car, but you better hope you never have to get it serviced.

General comments?

I have a Nissan Altima & other than having the normal maintenance performed other than oil changes & a tune up & front brake pads replaced at a 138,000 miles, I've had no problems with the car. Sounds like your biggest problem was the dealer, not the car, or manufacturer. I would suggest never buying a car again from that dealer.

I have an Altima GXE and it is coming up on 160,000 miles without any major service. Routine service at our dealer is excellent. I would say the original poster's experience unfairly characterizes all Nissan dealers based on one bad experience, and that's a shame.
