1997 Nissan Altima GXE review from North America
"Greatest decision I made"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Brakes always squeak and begin to grind not long after I or someone else changes them.
Changed the alternator in 2002 after a long trip from North Carolina to Indiana.
Battery changed twice.
General comments?
The car is a wonderful buy. I felt it had a lot of miles when I bought it, but we drove from North Carolina to Indianapolis, Indiana and the car did very well. The trip was taken when the car registered 96,000 miles and I certainly would not think twice to take the trip again now at 136,000 miles.
When I test drove the car I didn't like it very much, but boy it grew on me very quickly. I'm very glad my husband talked me into buying it. Now he's been trying to get me to buy a new car but I just can't seem to let go of my Altima. If I do buy a new car it will difinitely be an Altima, just a newer version. (V-6 anyone!)
The interior is still in great shape, I have three children so that in itself is a feat and definite plus!
The trunk is very large and can hold three umbrella strollers and $120 worth of groceries and numerous other things, yet another plus!
The performance of the car is great! Good pickup on take off, smooth shifting transmission, and great gas mileage! I would definitely recommend this car.
