1987 Nissan D21 Pickup SE V6 review from North America
"Fantastic quality and reliability"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The paint started to come off and the metal began to rust, of course. However, the rust was only on the surface and did not rot through. Bed rusted out around the wheel wells. Note this was a high mileage vehicle, from NJ (salt roads in winter).
Auto trans finally giving out at around 200,000 miles. Manuals seems to last forever, had one with 325,000 on it and another (1993 model) with 333,000.
General comments?
You can't beat these trucks for reliability. This truck, and another I own just like it, ALWAYS started, EVERY time (except when the battery died).
Window, door and sunroof seals held up very well over the years.
3.0 liter engine matched very well to the truck's size. You can haul a lot and pull a lot as well.
If you take care of them, replace the wearable parts when the time comes, and always replace timing belt at required interval, you will get many many miles from these trucks!
