1988 Nissan Maxima GXE review from North America
"Wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Car does not start.
Must turn a switch to keep battery from dying.
Car emits sparks when key is placed in ignition.
Annoying grinding sound at back. Probably a bad axle.
General comments?
I hate this vehicle. I was fooled by my beautiful, dependable, almost perfect 1987 Maxima into buying an '88 when the older one was wrecked.
This car is a nightmare and because I have had relatively minor problems with my first Maxima, I expected the same with this one since it had fewer miles. I wouldn't have been more wrong. I will be relieved to be rid of this car (if I can ever get rid of it that is), it has turned out to be a very unjudicial purchase.
A sixteen-year-old ran over my '87 resulting in the car being totaled. The kid was not paying attention and made a sudden turn in a school parking lot hitting my driver's side and passenger side door while I was in it. Fortunately, I was not injured, but my baby was. The damage extends to the front and rear fenders.
I wouldn't put this car on my worst enemy.
