1993 Nissan Maxima SE review from North America
"The reason I will now only drive Nissan's!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
There have been times that the odometer has gone out. It would continue to not work for a lengthy period of time, then out of the blue, start working again.
Shortly after purchase the motor started making a ticking sound. It only made it when it was sitting still or if my speed was low. After my RPM got up to around 4000 it would stop. I've been told that the lifters are a little lose.
I go through a lot of brake pads. I don't know if it is something to do with my car or if I ride my brakes.
The rear spoiler has started to come lose at places where it mounts onto the trunk lid.
General comments?
Since purchase of the car I have ramped it over a hill at 80 MPH and it is still going. The car has also had to have been towed out of a creek twice in which the water was about 6 inches of totally being over the top of the car and still it runs.
The motor has a lot of power.
It handles really good. It also drives very smoothly.
I've watched as my father has used it to go to the store or somewhere. It is a very nice looking car driving down the highway or through town.
