2000 Nissan Maxima GLE review from North America
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Currently have a 2000 Maxima GLE with 90000 miles. Also had the engine coil problem back around 30000 miles. The dealer replaced all 6 coils under warranty since he said they didn't know which specific coil was failing.
The Service Engine light did come on again around 89000 miles. It would stay on for a few days, the turn off, then back on, then off, etc. Also noticed the timing chain would make a lot of noise while driving uphill.
Finally took it into my local mechanic. He replaced the Air Flow sensor and one of the 4 Oxygen sensors. Cost $400 for parts and labor. But that seemed to fix the service engine light problem and rough engine sound/timing chain rattle noise.
HOPEFULLY that is end of car problems for my Maxima.
General comments?
Besides the coil and sensor problems, this car has been fairly dependable and I have enjoyed owning it.
