Check engine light on frequently - been to dealership at least 7 times, and started going to other mechanics to try and save on cost - always different codes dealing with O2 sensors and fuel running lean, keep replacing parts only to have the light go on again in a few months, and the dealership then recommends another part. Couldn't pass emissions and paid a lot to the courts for tickets of expired tags. Nissan would repair and still wouldn't pass.
Stereo - doesn't work, and keeps giving error messages.
Electrical - glitchy, the windows sometimes don't work smoothly, front lamps used to burn out every two to three months.
It has cost me a lot financially, and seems to need constant maintenance for the check engine light. I am trying to sell it, and even though it looks great and is a handsome well cared for vehicle, no one wants to pay what I still owe the bank; they don't think the car is worth it.
In California, three months trying to pass smog. Amounts of emmissions very low, but check engine light triggers failure. Any ideas for a cheap reolution?
JV.
I have the same issues with my 2001 LE Pathfinder. Check engine light is constantly on and off. Its cost me a lot of money for similar codes with the check engine light. I'm starting to think this is a scam by Nissan to grab my money. The only reason I haven't sold it yet is because its paid off. However, I might end up selling it if I can't get it to pass inspection this year.
As far as the stereo, do yourself a favor and buy an aftermarket retrofit. There are some pretty good ones out there that will fit the exact size of the one that's in there. Mine looks great and almost looks like it cam with the car.
I had same problems with my Pathfinder. Still do. Had every sensor changed including a new gas tank. CD changer went out, and found out it is a common problem too. I would never consider buying another Nissan product.
This is exactly what happened to my Pathfinder. I think I changed 7 sensors, my last being the gas tank at over $700. It came on again a couple months later and it will stay on till I sell it. The CD changer went out at about 70,000 miles and after visiting this web site: http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/4/147218.html, I decided Nissan was not the car company for me. I removed the CD changer and got my CDs out after destroying the unit. I did talk to my Nissan dealer about the problem first, but they "never had a problem with one of these units before".
First thing I check is the gas cap with O2 sensor issues and that it tightens properly, not loose after filling.
