Replaced clutch when first owned, engined when first owned as the motor was abused and blown up, got imported engine from japan with 3000km, CV joints recently replaced due too bad driveway, genral wear and tear, ie spark plugs, oil, tyres, etc.
This has to be one of the most fun cars I have ever driven. When a bumrider sits behind me, I can blow him off at roundabouts and corners and watch them disinigrate like they didn't even exist, much to their astonishment, having a good laugh at the same time. I highly recommend this car for an all-rounder. you get an extra 200km to a tank in the country. get one, you will not be disappointed.
Hey, I bought a Nissan Pintara Ti last week with 167,000 on the clock. It is top of the range with power windows etc. It is an excellent car and has amazing acceleration. I love it.
It usually starts first go, but second occasionally. but I still love it. By the way, your review is brilliant. Bye!!!
I used to own one (Pintara T - made in 91, registered in 92), just passed it on to my brother - it's a fantastic quick car - cheap to maintain - built in Australia, to the higher Japanese standards. This resulted in a car that has not fallen apart compared to cars of the same vintage (minimal interior noise, keeping in mind its age)
Running costs are quite low, approx 500km for the 55L tank, estimated from actual 480km, using 50L)- always dependant on how you drive it. POWER/HOLD button is quite handy - done many interstate trips.
Handles really well for front wheel drive - comparative to size, it has a very good weight.
Inside, while driving, it has really great visibilty with smaller C-pillars. The seats are fantastic and comfortable - for the slimmer person (one of the best i've ever sat in, seriously)- unlike the huge seats in commodores/falcon - really good air-con. Easy to clean - HUGE bootspace (bigger if rear seats are down)
Very neutral looking and if in its original condition, conservative - but you can do it up to make it stand out and very unique.
I only put in my own car stereo - at a budget - the front speakers are oddly shaped, but they do sell decent new ones of the same size.
I've just bought a newer car, but found it difficult using the Pintara as a benchmark (comparative to price/size) - I work at GM, but this was after having driven the Pintara for about 5 years... I already miss it :(
There is a Pintara/TRX forum on the internet - very useful - but I don't want to get in trouble for posting a link. Google it and you will find some.
Completely agree with all the reviews here. I've got a 91 Ti - it has great fuel efficiency, and several luxury add-ons that my friends are frequently surprised to find in such an old car (e.g. power windows, central locking, cruise control).
Mine's been very reliable - only need to bring it in for usual servicing (although the engine's felt a little dodgy lately - not entirely surprising in an 18 year old car).
