1987 Nissan Pulsar NX XE review from North America
"Excellent budget-mobile"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
- Gas and Temp Gauges died at 95,000 miles, needed a voltage regulator in the instrument cluster to fix, didn't fix because part was a rip off (over $200)
- Rear Hatch doesn't stay open in colder weather.
- Car can cut off after starting in warmer weather, this can be dangerous because sometimes when you put in the clutch it'll de-rev and cut off while in motion.
- Driver's side seat belt doesn't work (or requires a VERY fast pull)
General comments?
This car over-all is of GREAT value. You can generally get them under $2000 and they are worth it. They are sufficiently sporty around town, although hi speed passing often requires dropping down a gear. Car is saves you money due to only needing liability insurance, and the important parts are very reliable.
The motor is very dependable, it gets good gas mileage (32-35 highway), although it could have been better if it didn;t employ the ho-hum TBI for fuel injection.
This 20 year old car is my current daily driver and has never left me on the side of the road. I am about to replace it though because I fear that it does not hold up in accidents very well.
