1996 Nissan Quest GXE from North America - Comments

"Family friendly work horse"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Steering wheel mounted radio controls work only occasionally.

Rear lift gate sometimes does not close securely.

Front brakes wear too quickly.

General comments?

Sliding seats were a good design in the mid-1990s. But I would prefer the foldaway seats now found in the Honda Odyssey and other newer minivans.

Fairly nimble for a minivan.

Power only adequate.

I am an auto technician and have seen in my experience the Nissan quest brakes wear out faster than on other vehicles.

I have 5 customers with Nissan quest vans who come to me on a regular basis for service. I do all their work, but the nissan questfront brakes wear out very fast.

I have used major brands ceramic enhanced pads, metallic pads. I checked the calipers, hoses, guide pins on all the vehicles on which I work. These jobs were done as per the book. I had even torqued the lug nuts to specs. Some of these vehicles do not even give 12,000 miles on a set of pads. I am hesitant to take Nissan quest brake jobs. I do not know whether the pad material is no good, or the vehicle weight is too much. This is an unbiased opinion.
