1994 Nissan Sentra E 1.6L from North America

Summary:

This car is spartan, solid, and a bargain to operate

Faults:

At 140,000 miles the AC was not working. Once the system was recharged it blew more cold air than it ever had previously.

This car has given me absolutely no trouble. Besides maintenance items like the brakes, belts, tires, muffler and ignition parts, I have not had any trouble.

General Comments:

I purchased the car after it had been in a wreck at 13,000 miles. After driving it 144,000 miles (350 miles per week) I am very satisfied. I am a commuter and despite the 2-door's Spartan amenities it fits the intended purpose perfectly.

Although the body shows its age, the car itself is mechanically sound and I am sure will be good for another for another 40,000 miles.

I hope the next car I own will be as reliable and trouble free this one has been.

1994 Nissan Sentra 1.4 from North America

Summary:

Great value and very reliable

Faults:

Major problems when I first got my Sentra, but they were due to water instead of antifreeze being used for coolant. The dealer fixed all the damage.

Spark plug wires failed after I had owned it for a few months.

Seems to run too hot.

General Comments:

After fixing the problems from the previous owner, the car performs great.

It has never broken down on me.

Very good fuel economy.

I have taken it many places someone wouldn't take a truck and it has gotten through OK.

1994 Nissan Sentra XE from North America

Summary:

A great bargain and a solid car.

Faults:

At about 110k miles the AC went. The dealer killed me on fixing this problem costing me $1500.

Otherwise nothing beyond brakes and batteries for the first 100k. The tires, Michelens, kept good tread until 105k miles.

General Comments:

This car never let me down and I would buy another Sentra without hesitation. I did perform all the required maintenence until 90,000 miles and rotated the tires every 5000. I wouldn't hold the AC against the car. I thought the dealer was a jerk.

I bought a 1991 Sentra XE Japanese built brand new and I definetly concur with your evaluation. I love my Sentra and recently bought a used 94 Sentra to keep it company.

My 94 at 111,000 miles just lost the A/C. Claims of a receiver/drier & condenser failure brought forth an estimate of $600+ to repair. I'm done with all of the cost.

1994 Nissan Sentra SE 1.6 liter 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

A good little car to get you by

Faults:

Starter went out at 75000.

Battery went dead at 75500.

Engine knocks when the weather is warm, and when the engine is warm and has been driven for awhile.

General Comments:

I like my Nissan, It is a very reliable, fuel-efficient car. The only problem is that it is too small. I am a big car person and this car was given to me for free, but I'm not going to complain.

The windows steam up very easily when it is wet outside or I have a big crowd in it. This is really only meant to fit four semi-comfortably. But hey, it's my set of wheels and I can rely on it so I'm not complaining. I don't recommend this car for big people, it would be very uncomfortable for them.

1994 Nissan Sentra from North America

Summary:

I've spent more fixing the car then I've spent buying the car

Faults:

I have replaced my engine when it blew at 40 below weather during my Christmas holiday. That was $2000 too much.

I then needed to replace my starter, which was put out of commission for a week and a half because they didn't have the part.

Then I replaced the starter that stopped working on a busy highway in the middle of the night.

There have been many other things like CV boots. I could spend the whole day complaining about my car. It is conveniently broken again!!!

1994 Nissan Sentra LE 1.6 L 4-cylinder from North America

Summary:

A convenient, inexpensive, in-town vehicle

Faults:

I've gone through 2 alternators and one alternator belt. The first was the original manufacturer's alternator and the second was a bad one from Auto-Zone.

General Comments:

While lacking basic acceleration (especially with the air conditioner on), it makes up for it in freeway speed, gas mileage, comfort, and driving pleasure.

The only complaint I have is that the steering wheel tilt blocks the instrumentation and I have to lean forward to read my speed.

I feel very, very spoiled with this car.
