2003 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V review from North America
"Very fun, very fast, very good car! When it runs"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I am a very big Nissan fan, after a lot of my friends had SR20DE swapped 240sx, and my brother has owned both the B13 SE-R and B14 SE-R, then my dad bought a B16 SE-R Spec-V. So I thought it would only be right to have owned them all, so I went a bought a B15 SE-R Spec-V.
I absolutely loved the car!!! It felt very good to drive, the suspension is unbelievable!!! The gear box felt pretty good, but could have been better, but I do LOVE the 6 speed, and the body is gorgeous!
I then began to met other SE-R owners, and that's when I was reminded about the problems B15s get. I had done research on them a few years back, but had forgotten. My motor began to knock and that's when it all went down hill. I still drove the car, not knowing exactly what it could be. People told me that it was a bent rod, but it still had correct compression and didn't lag when I gave it gas. I did the research again and then my motor blew. The problem was the butterfly valves in the intake manifold.
General comments?
Basically an AMAZING car if you know the butterfly valves and pre-cat are not going to cause you any problems.
Suspension is awesome! It handles very very very good!
The 6 speed has a good gear ratio and shifts pretty nice.
For a car that has 175hp and 180 ft lb of torque, it is very very fast. It only weighs 2700lb!
