2002 Nissan Sentra GXE review from North America

Ever since I got it, I only had very few problems, but nothing major.

The check engine light has come on twice. The first time at almost 60,000 was that the O2 sensor was bad and got replaced. Last month at 90,000 miles was because 2 transmission sensors were bad and got replaced.

When I bought the car, it had a bad quality radio, plus when I wanted to change the station or volume, it would just automatically shut off for some reason, so I replaced it with a Pioneer radio.

The clock does not work, it never has.

Other things were just a tune-up and timing belt when I first got the car, but this was just maintenance.

I got this car the very first week of this year from a very good friend of mine. This belonged to his mother. This was an old lady car, she bought it new in 2002 and did not put that many miles on it. This car never gave her any trouble. I think the only problem she had was a slow oil leak, which was the oil pan, but it got replaced.

Last year her health got to a condition where she could not drive anymore, so her son, who is my friend sold me the car at a very good price. She only drove this car 53,000 miles and change in almost 7 years. I drove this car 38,000 miles and change only in 10 months, and it has never broke down or has ever got me stranded.

I did have some issues as mentioned above, but not that big of deal. I have read a lot of bad reviews on the Sentra from 2000 up to the late models, and I'm very sorry for the people who had the bad luck and wrote the bad reviews. However I have to say that I don't really have anything bad to say about this car. I never had a major problem, at least not yet. I do take good car of the car since I do a lot of long distance driving for business trips and vacations, so I'm always on top of oil and service. So this car is still holding up. The gas cost on the car is not bad either, despite all of the driving, I get around 36mpg or so.
