2002 Nissan Sentra SE-R review from North America
"Good for scrap metal maybe!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
When I first got the car nothing seemed to go wrong with the car, well that is until the third day. Since then it has only been problems.
The brakes starting squealing right away. This may not seem like much of a problem, but when I took it into the dealership to try and solve the problem they could not figure out what the problem was. So I was driving in a brand new car that made annoying noises for the first 8000 Kilometers. Then it did eventually stop.
I would have been happy if this was the only problem I had, but more just came. I bought the car at the end of January and in July I had problems with the car not starting. I mentioned the problem to my dealership, but when I brought the car in I could never duplicate the problem, so they wouldn't do anything. Eventually the car wouldn't even start so I was stuck without a car and made me late for such things as school and work. Remember this is a brand new car that I'm "driving".
I had my car towed into the dealership one day when it wouldn't start. They called later that day saying the car was fixed. Two days later the car wouldn't start. So I drove the "fixed" car to the dealership. I was speaking with the service manager at the dealership and when he said I drove the car to Nissan, the problem was "fixed" again, I guess because it started one time. Anyways, I have talked to head office and also with the dealership, all they have been saying since November is that they are aware of the problem, but have no way of fixing the problem right now. Also I had a supervisor at head office hang the phone up on me. This ended up being the final straw. I'm 20 years old, this was my second Nissan vehicle and is my last. I traded my Sentra in and I feel sorry for anyone else out there that has the car. They are not reliable at all, I'm aware of 5 other people that have the vehicle and 4 of these people have had major problems with the car. It looks like Nissan has to do some serious work if they want to compete with the rest of the auto industry.
General comments?
The car does have good power, but it has to start first.
Would never recommend the car to anyone, not even people I don't like.
