1993 Nissan Sentra XE review from North America
"Reliable and economical"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
My Sentra XE had relatively few problems during the time I owned it. Here are the ones I can remember:
The brakes, front and rear, all had to be replaced at 100,000 miles. At 120,000 miles, the brakes began to vibrate and make noise.
At 90,000 miles, the weather stripping on the driver's side door came off.
At 158,000 miles, the entire exhaust system had to be replaced due to rust.
Around 130,000 miles, the air conditioner started to smell really bad. We never were able to figure out why.
General comments?
The Sentra was an amazingly reliable car. It always started up, even in sub-zero temperatures. It handled quite well in snow. The engine was not powerful, but it got good fuel economy. The interior was not very spacious -- in fact, it was quite cramped -- but that is to be expected from a small car.
I wish I had kept it for a while longer instead of trading it in toward a newer American car.
I will definitely consider a Nissan when it comes time to buy a car again.
