"A Japanese Ford.."

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Where to start.

175000 tranny blew

steering rack warped???

At 190000 my cylinder # 4 started misfiring. replacing hte spark plugs seemed to fix this.

At 195000 miles it started happening agian, turns out the injectors went bad. Dealer said 1100 to fix it, this is how much the car is worth so obviously I said screw it.

Clear coat started coming off on the rear.

General comments?

This car is junk to put it simply. I got it as a temporary daily driver after I sold my 300zx. my hope was that I would eb able to save a down payment for aother car. Well as luck would have it good old nissan let me down again. This car has given me hell, it rattles, looks bad, drives bad, won't aline properly. On top of this it only gets 22 miles to the gallon. My 400hp 300zx got this good of gas mileage??? On top of all this the interior uplostry seems to absorb odor. I have never once eaten in this car and I clean it every week. Yet it persistantly smells like crap. The seats are horrible, they give be lower back pains on long trips. To anyone looking for an economy car, do yourself a favor and get a honda, acura, or toyota. They are much more reliable, look better, and are usually faster.

Your comments present with rather curious and unrealistic expectations, so let me get this straight: You're complaining about an 11 year old vehicle nearing 200,000 miles that has problems? That you probably paid no more than $1000 for? You have to expect such things from a car with miles that high-- Particularly if it's been neglected.

The bottom line is, regardless of manufacturer, ANY car with miles that high will present with problems-- All the time.

And regarding interior odors and the like, you may wish to consider that this car has put in over 10 years of service, with who knows how many owners, with who knows what things going on inside. Kids spilling drinks, people dropping food... In a 10 year period how realistic do you think it is that accidents hadn't happened in there? That's independent of the car maker-- A 10 year old Toyota would often present the same "problems".

It sounds to me like you didn't thoroughly inspect the car before buying it, which is critical when considering a vehicle that old. For your problems, as demonstrated here on this web site, there are a thousands of other people who have had relative excellent experiences with this generation Nissan Sentra.

I totally agree with the poster above.

Why is it that people buy super old cars that look busted up for like $600 and then talk about how all it did was break down?

Maybe you should have bought one at a dealership like I did, and I've only had to replace the starter in over a year and a half of beating on the car. (I've also had to do a bit of suspension work, my fault--or a lady's fault--for cutting me off and sending me into the curb at over 40mph)
