1994 Nissan Sentra XE from North America - Comments

"Buy it for your college son or daughter"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

My Sentra blew the head gasket at 143000 miles.

I had to replace the brakes (pads and rotors) front and back at 146000.

Replaced the radiator, water pump, steering pump and alternator at 143000.

My mechanic just informed me that the CV (What does cv stand for?) needs to be replaced at 146000 miles.

General comments?

Not enough room in the car.

Reliable and not expensive to maintain despite me spending $2000.00 this year alone. In the last 4 years I have hardly spent a dime to repair it.

Good for college students.

I bought a 1994 Nissan sentra xe from a family friend in Oct,2003 and as a 9 year old car it ran great, as if brand new. all because the person whom I bought it from was sure his car was always on time for oil changes or regular maintenance. so as long as I'm concerned if you take care of her she"ll take care of you.

A PROUD 1994 SENTRA OWNER.

I believe the mechanic meant a constant velocity joint (U-joint). It's a part that allows the wheel to move around (ie: when steering) while allowing the transmission to continue transmitting power to the wheel.

I also had a 1994 Sentra. I had bought as a 7 year old car in 11-2001. It was a burgundy 2 door strip down model! I used for my job, delivering.

When I first got it, I discovered the car had a major oil leak. $200 later it was fixed (crank shaft oil seal). Since then my car just would NOT quit!

My Sentra had 125000 miles when I got it. I drove it to 191000 when I sold it. Everything I did were: replace fuel line (leaking), brakes, and manual transmission oil seals (leaked fluid), battery, strut. Also the drive axle too (car came with bad axle).

A few times however, I did have a time when I could not start the engine. It sounded like engine had no compression! After repeated attempts, I was able to get it started. There after, no problems starting. This happened to me about 3 times for the year and half I had the car.

I do know that this car was a great great car, VERY reliable, also very economical. This car was running exactly like it did from day one when I sold it!
