Turbo replaced after 60K.
Brakes seem to require a lot of attention. Had to replace rear callipers & handbrake cables several times.
Several ball joints have been replaced.
Prop shaft needs attention.
Modified car, in handling & performance, is almost unbeatable. In standard form they leave a lot to be desired.
Spare parts are rather expensive from dealers, and you can't get spares off the shelf anywhere.
Rust (after 16 years) is now a big problem.
A good looking car, still not dated.
I have owned this car since it was one year old. Modifications include: BBR conversion, lowered/uprated suspension, better alloys, EVO type rear spoiler from Silvia engineering, big bore stainless steel exhaust, K&N induction kit, etc. etc. Was upto 187bhp - started to get deternation as the engine got older and 4* not available.
I too have a 1986 Nissan Silvia Turbo. I bought it when it was 12 months old, and still love it. I strongly disagree with the statement that "rust is a problem" - my car is still immaculate except for 1 front wing which was replaced in 1990 after a minor scrape - this newest part of the car is the only rust spot! Mine was tuned by Silvia Engineering and independently road tested at 211 brake horsepower.
More of a query really, I've brought myself a nissan Silvia Q's and I love the car to bits, But I need a new front o/s wing as mine trashed, please could you point me in the right direction, for a nice looking car at the end of it?.yours Matt,
