The clutch has gone several times.
The head gasket had to be replaced at 80,000 miles.
Jumped out of fifth gear.
Both drive shafts went after a night of wheel spinning.
Electric windows have stopped twice.
I was highly disappointed with the performance. My previous car which was a KIA pride went just as well. When you see a 205 G.T.I. come up behind just pull over even if it's a 1.6. Also beware of metro's, they are probably faster. All though this car is nothing performance wise it is quite reliable. Nissan really do let down the Japanese.
If your looking for a family car it's great, otherwise don't buy it.
You must have bought some broken 1.6SR the right one is quite impressive car in terms of performance. At least no Golf GTI could have a chance against it, not speaking for some wicked Peugeot. :-)
My Sunny SR is fine, no problems whatsoever.
It's not slow, I raced a Vectra 2.5 V6 automatic the other day, and for a 1 mile race, he got about 20 yards from me. I get 120 in 4th, so you can't exactly say they're slow.
Well I got my Nissan Sunny 1.6SR about 6 months ago. I've never put a spanner to it.
The 1.6i 16v twinhead cam engine doesn't hang about. Standard they have approx 124bhp and 0 to 60 is around 8.2secs, which is brilliant for a motor of its age.
They look fantastic and sporty. Mine is bright red with matt black 16 inch alloy wheels (looks mental). It's also got a big bore exhaust with a 6 inch pipe (Really loud).
They are rapid for what they are, but 120mph in 4th gear is over the top. The top speed is around 125mph. But I would recommend one, I'm 19 years old and lads my age are racing about in Corsas and Saxos and others, and the SR smokes them at lights and motorways.

Nissan Sunny 1.6SR (standard) is really quick. I had 180mph and had to back of in 4th gear. 0 to 60 is around 4.2secs 0 to 100 in 5.2 seconds and that's standard. What can I say get one and see for your self trust me you will be shocked. I'm 17 years old and I love Nissans especially SRs I had a race with a Lamborghini diablo and trust me I left it for dust down the motorway the police cameras didn't even flash because they don't flash if you are doing speeds of over 175mph, fast :-) GET ONE.
I don't know what the other guys are on about in the above comments, 180mph - definitely not and 2.5 Vectra is much quicker, but. 1.6sr sunnys are a great car. I have had 3 sunny's- 1 1.4lx and 2 1.6 sr's and they are a GREAT car, they are 102 bhp standard and are quite quick. I raced a Type R Civic yesterday in my sr and kept up with him until 40 - 50 mph. They are extremely reliable, not 1 of my 3 sunny has ever let me down. If you are buying one then just check for rust underneath the car. The common faults are, central locking goes a little funny and all my sunny's needed new shocks, but they are a 12 - 15 year old car. I'm selling mine soon and am getting a GTI sunny, GTIR's break too easy due to the power output. Overall no real problems like gear boxes or gaskets, the engine is described as bullet proof and they are, you can't break these cars, solid as a rock!
My sunny is very quick, but the engine blew up. So not very quick at the moment LOL.
