1999 Oldsmobile 88 review from North America
"It's a shame they stopped making this car because I would buy another just like it"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Latch on middle armrest was broken at purchase.
Tab on air conditioning/heat vent left of steering wheel was broken at purchase.
Brakes needed to be replaced at 100,000.
Spark plug wire split at 122,000.
General comments?
This car is incredibly reliable. At 129,000 miles (mostly highway), I don't think twice about heading off for a 1,500 mile trip in it. I commute 365 miles/week in it.
Seats are very comfortable and adjustable in all positions. Plenty of legroom front and back.
I loved my previous car, a Buick LeSabre, and wasn't sure I would like this car as much, but have grown to love the ride, gas mileage (24 city, 32 highway), and look of the vehicle.
It has had regular oil changes, tire rotations, transmission flushes, wash/wax, and has been garaged since purchase.
When others ride in the car, they cannot believe it has such high miles and is nearly seven years old.
