Why does someone keep speaking for me. I am the original poster of this review. I never said the thing about my plan to keep the car for 1 million miles and how I will do it and I did not say "I will drive 300,000 miles, you'll see" Someone has way too much time on there hands. Do something constructive.
I own a 1989 regency 98 Fe3. They will last 300,000 miles. I know this,because mine has 333,357 on it now.
What does FE3 mean? and what does the touring sedan have over the base 98?
FE3 is the suspension system. It is geared more towards "sport" tuning. The Touring Sedan had the same engine and transmission as the 98 Regency / Brougham, however the interior is all leather with much nicer front seats, a console with a shift lever between the seats, analog gauges, different wood trim, no opera lights on the side between the doors, fog lamps, and different emblems. I believe Oldsmobile produced a touring sedan from 1987 through 1993, the 1991-3 models being the newer body style. The Touring Sedan by Oldsmobile is a car that we will never see again. Oldsmobile was put down after over 100 years of production. If you find a nice one buy it, but expect to spend some money repairing or replacing things like the transmission. The 3.8 3800 motor is dynamite, but the transmission is not!
My 1990 Olds Touring Sedan has 370,000 miles on it. Everything is still fine except for a miss that crops up during heavy traffic. I have replaced the ICM and coils, but it still has the problem. Any ideas?
I purchased in 1991 a Oldsmobile 98 regency sport touring. It was made only 1 year. It cost 32,000 new completely loaded and talks to me. it has always been in N.D. no rust and runs like a thief in the night. It tells me if anything is wrong and I have it taken care of. The interior is all maroon leather, exterior is maroon with lower silver panel. I would not trade her for a million dollars. I have 240,000 miles on it. I hope all who have this car can keep it a long time. I have never had transmission trouble, but I keep if flushed every year.
Well think I will be putting my 1990 Touring Sedan out to pasture...
I got it with high miles (err kilometers up in Canada here) so did what the 4t60 (aka tranny), stuck horn relay/switches, disintegrated headliner, and now the ABS pump is gone, and with the old ABS system it has, I won't play dominoes with the big dollars each of those pieces are worth (err Teves Mark II system for those inquiring minds).
Bose/Delco sound system was hosed when I got it, and well I saw no point in doing much with it as I never liked that system in my ex Trofeo, and don't like Bose products across the board.
It did its job, but I now have too much into a car which was a bit sad when I got it. I did like the style of car as an ex had a Trofeo, which had a lot of similar bits n pieces.
Great ride for a big car. A lot of things still worked and it is the couch on the road, very comfy seats.
Now I have to fall back... way back to my mothballed egad 1990 Taurus till I can return it to standby, as I manage a fleet of old cheap rides for my whole 5000 miles a year but daily driving.
Been a slice, but will be my last Olds product and most likely my last GM product. The Taurus is my first and last Ford. Now my 89 Camry just keeps rolling and I will head for the east for all cars from this point with the stable.
I have a 1989 Olds 98 Touring and my brake system recently went out also. I'm having a hell of a time finding one that won't cost me an arm, a leg and both my first born grandkids. If anybody can help, it would be greatly appreciated.
