1999 Oldsmobile Alero review from North America
"Great affordable GM"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The gas gauge has a mind of it's own.
Driver's side window fell off the track.
When I'm driving out of nowhere bells go off ding ding ding.
Rotors need replacment every few months.
Low coolant light comes on when coolent level is fine.
Paint has peeled in 2 different areas which is now rusting.
General comments?
For the price the Alero looks nice I have the V6 which is pretty quick for a 6 cyl. the interior is OK a lot of the switches and things are cheap plastic so you have to be carefull not to break anything. overall the parts for the car are like most GM's they are cheap. If you want a more reliable car buy an import and pay three times as much for parts. and goodluck doing the work yourself everything is so tight with import cars I would never own one. I would recomend this car to a young family that can do some work on the car themselves.

| If you can get past the problems, Alero has potential: MUCH better than the Achieva it replaced! |
