2002 Oldsmobile Alero rls review from North America
"This car is a b.i.c lighter, use it and toss it away!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I purchased a 2002 Olds Alero GLS 2dr, blk, leather it's a beauty... We bought the vehicle from a GM dealership (lease return) with 82000km on it. The car from day two did not perform like a car that just had a government safety should, the brakes squeeled and I heard a knocking sound under the hood (I'm not mechanically inclined) I also heard a weird humming sound from my drivers side wheel when driven at approx 50km. I immediately took the car in and went on a test drive with the mechanic at the GM dealership. He stated the car was safetied Government and also their own safety was done which is better. The brakes he said where breaking in as they where just changed... The humming was the same excuse, and the knocking was a seal or something which they did repair and healed that problem. The break and humming continued for a week, I called and asked to speak to the manager and expressed that I did not think the mechanics did a proper safety I was having a new one done... so I took the car to another mechanic for a random safety and the car failed. took the failed safety to the same authorized GM dealership/garage and made them fix all the checked items.
Since...
Anti-lock break system blew.
Oil light won't turn off... tried reset and changed oil its stuck on.
Breaks have gone 2 times.
Rear struts.
Transmission slips in-between 2 and 3 rpm.
Both windows have fallen in the doors and the GM dealership expressed it would be 1000.00 a door to repair which I don't have so my windows are wedged closed. I phoned GM and asked if this was a manufacture defect since both went within a month of each other and I read on line that it has happened to a lot of people "they stated they where not aware of any problems with alero windows" I told them to spend 2 seconds on google and google it!!! its BS!
GM finally figured out that the humming noise was my rim and they would repair it, but instead they damaged the rim while taking the tire off, pulled the edge down like a pouting lip then sent it off for repair and now there is a square weight looking thing on my alloy rim... since the tire looses air on a constant basis and recently bought new tires and it still looses air. (bought a portable air pump for the car because its so often I fill it up.
General comments?
This car looks good, but it's a LEMON (beware)
