The only things to have ever gone wrong with this car for me is the blower motor just went recently at 95,000 miles. I am reading that this is somewhat of a common problem but it was a cheap fix only 80 dollars for a new one. Over this past summer my window regulator went. This was my own fault because during the winter when my windows were frozen I forced the window down. I knew that it was off track since then and never bothered to have anyone look at it. This was also a cheap fix. A little over a hundred dollars. Also had a problem where the trac off kept turning on and the anti lock brake light kept turning on too. I disconnected the traction system until I could afford to fix the problem and had no problems. This was a more expensive fix at a little over $200 and I know this is a common problem with this car because I know many other's who own Alero's who have had this same problem.
This car has over all treated me very well. I treat my car like it's my child. Oil changes every 3,000 miles. I don't do a lot of city driving mainly all highway driving. It handles awesome I took a corner going 50 MPH racing someone and it handled amazing. The ride is a little bumpy but what do you expect from a sporty car. This is no Buick Park Avenue but when I purchased this car I was looking for something sportier and reliable. I never read any of these comments about this car until recently. Some of them are just awful. I do not believe this is a bad car to own at all. I have had no major problems with this car at all in the last three years I owned it. Honestly I would buy another Alero if I could however they are no longer made. This car has been nothing but reliable. When there are other's that I know that on the coldest day of the year in Wisconsin their cars will not start and mine will I know that this is a car to be proud of. I love my Alero and stand behind it 100%
I don't knowwhat half of these people are talking about! I bought my alero GLS directly off the back of a car hauler when worked for a gm dealer in 2000. my car has over 200,000 miles on it and still gets about 27 mpg. I drive it everyday and have never wrecked it or spent any ridiculous amount on it for anything major. if it blew up today I would have no complaints what so ever, best car I have ever owned!
