2001 Oldsmobile Alero GL Coupe review from North America
"A great amount of car for the price."
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The emergency brake boot had to be replaced twice because the spring underneath the button to release the brake broke.
Both the driver and passenger seats had to be re-aligned on their tracks because they would not lock into position and would often shift during driving.
Control panel had to be replaced due to faulty wiring that controlled the heat and defrost. This was a major issue and had to be taken in twice to get the job done right.
Spark plugs had to be replaced.
Blinkers have started to have a mind of their own and only work properly about 75% of the time.
General comments?
I leased this car because I wanted to upgrade from my 1995 Beretta SS. which was also a manual. I am pleased with the engine and the transmission. I have never had any problems with shifting the gears. The car is enjoyable to drive and comfortable for extended trips.
However, due to the several defects that have popped up in the short time span I have leased the car has encourged me not to buy out my lease and not to return to a General Motors product.
