2000 Oldsmobile Alero from North America - Comments

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The following things have had to be replaced:

A.) Rotors

b.) Power seating

c.) Manifold Gasket.

General comments?

My current problem now is that my car won't start when it's raining, and the coolant light keeps coming up.

Also, everytime it rains the front and back seats are wet.

The same thing happens to mine when it rains. Only the floor by the back seat gets a genuine puddle of water. I have no idea where the water gets in from. It's making my car smell so musty.

My 2000 Alero also has the back seat puddle.

From what I can tell it happens during heavy rain and as the rain goes down the door seem it will creep up over the bottom of the door sill and literally pour onto the floor of the back seat leaving a half inch (at least) puddle of water that can only be removed properly with a wet-vac or be left to musty up the car.

I finally punched holes, made little slits, in the rubber around the bottom of the door and that seems to stop the water coming into my Alero.

My Alero leaks around the drivers door too. If your will not start in the rain check to see if the fuse panel at the end of the dash is getting wet. If it is getting wet take some plastic and duct tape it over the panel and then put the plastic cover panel on over it.

My fuse panel gets wet and it makes all the warning lights come on at once. I have to turn off the car and restart it to reset the lights.

I just purchased a 2000 Oldsmobile Alero V6 and I also have noticed the floor mats are very wet on the bottom and it burns oil like it's going out of style.

I found out from another forum that if you don't check the oil and coolant levels daily you might not get the check light and will run your engine bone dry literally. I've already had it 2 weeks and have got it maintained twice as far as oil change & needing new brakes & rotors already.

I am scared to even take out the anti-theft original radio for fear of not being able to start the car it has known issues with the security system and fuel injectors that won't allow you to go without a system reset.
