1999 Oldsmobile Alero review from North America
"Just another GM money trap...AVOID!!!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Alternator went bad a couple of months ago. Now the battery warning light comes on every now and then, which has me worried.
The driver side power windows are damaged. The plastic clips holding the window to the regulator fell apart. I believe they were glued back together. You CAN'T buy just the clips & replace, you have to replace the ENTIRE window regulator, which costs $260. I don't think so.
Car seems to use an awful lot of anti-freeze. The low coolant light comes on QUITE often.
General comments?
This was a nice car... for a while. My wife liked it. I'm not so sure anymore. The seats are uncomfortable for my 6'1" frame.
We got the car with decently low miles, and should NOT have these problems, regardless of vehicle age.
I doubt I will EVER buy another newer car again. They are ALL DEFECTIVE in some way, shape or form.
Avoid the Alero, folks. TRUST ME.
