1999 Oldsmobile Alero GL from North America - Comments

"Seems like every day something goes wrong"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The rotors had to be replaced right away when I bought the car (It was already 4 years old) but the dealer said the brakes had been replaced already along with the rotors about a year before I bought it.

New front and rear brakes needed again, they seem to wear very fast.

Heat/Air only works on high.

Driver side window broken, won't move.

Back window, the seal around it is comming off and I hear air coming in then driving.

Security system is no working properly and will cost over $1000.00 to get checked and possibly fixed. It locks me out and cannot start car for ten minutes.

Car does not start all the time, have to give it a few tries every once in a while.

Tape player every so often doesn't feel like working and spits tape back out.

General comments?

I do like this car, the style and comfort of the inside, but too many defects.

Parts for car are way too expensive! especially since so many things break.

I agree completely with everything you wrote. I have a 1999 Olds Alero and have nothing but problems with this car since day one. I still owe two years of payments on it so I can't seem to get rid of it and the dealership won't even call me back. I have this car for a little over two years and I have replace the rotors 5 times, and the brakes three times. Nothing is under warranty anymore and this car is costing me so much money. In the last year I have replace the waterpump, battery and cables, struts twice, hub bearings and just fixed the power steering system for a grand total of 1600.00. I hate this car and can't wait to get rid of it. Please note the car only has 70,000 miles on it. My driver side window opens when it wants to and the engine keeps surging on me and causing the car to stall out. The dealership cant get the car to do this for them so I "Must be imaging problems with the car" That is what they told me.
