2000 Oldsmobile Alero GS review from North America
"Good everyday cruiser"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
-Passenger side window regulator went bad,
required new unit, covered by extended
warranty $400 with labor.
-Cigarette lighters not functioning,
it is not the fuse.
-Back bottom window strip came loose.
General comments?
Despite some minor problems, the Alero is not all that bad. I have the inline 4 version, not the V6, but it still has a bit of pickup. It handles quite nicely, and feels sturdy and sticky through corners. The steering is extremely nice; you barely have to turn the wheel. It does not have 'heavy' steering. Looks good, have seen much uglier.
NOTE: I put Amsoil Synthetic in the engine and it runs ten times better! It shifts smoother, and runs faster. If you have the inline 4 and want to boost the overall performance, try Amsoil. I am not advertising for this product, merely pointing out something from my own experience.
