I purchased my 1999 Olds Alero used and one problem after another has occurred.
The first week after taking it off the lot, there was a really loud noise in the wheel which turned out to be the rotors. I was told the two front rotors were warped.
I have had problem after problem with the brakes.
Last year a Hub Bearing had to be replaced.
The low tire pressure light comes on every week.
The latch on the two back doors stick constantly and I have to put WD-40 in the door frames all the time to stop the loud squeaking noise when you open the door.
The latest and most expensive problem is the Power Steering. This is the second winter, without any warning, the power steering will completely go out. I am now told that my Power Steering Pump will have to be replaced along with the Rack and Pinion.
The blower in the heat/ac went
out the 2nd year along with the back window defroster.
I like to look and feel of the car, but the problems have mounted up to more of a headache than a pleasure. I will never purchase an Alero again, can someone suggest a car that is reliable?
Because I am not having good luck with any of the American cars that I have purchased.
Too bad you had problems. There are some good GM cars out there. Check out the Buick Lesabre.
