1999 Oldsmobile Alero GLS review from North America
"A money pit - never stops"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Left bearings at 34,000 miles
Broken left spring at 37,000 miles
Leaky manifold at 37,500 miles
burnt resistor for fan settings 1 and 2
leaky tires due to corrosion since I owned it
Bad rotors - need redoing every six months
Squeaky breaks along the way
engine service light comes on periodically even after tuning
3 out of 6 injector failed at 37,500 miles
spark plug went as well at same time as injector
currently have noisy compressor - expect that to break.
General comments?
Good car to start with, but quality is very poor and GM could not have done a worse job in handling claims - they know they have built a poor quality car an have not addressed the many failures that have happened.

| If you can get past the problems, Alero has potential: MUCH better than the Achieva it replaced! |
