2004 Oldsmobile Alero GLS review from North America

"The car is a sleek cheap quick sedan"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

N/A. No problems as of yet, but only have had for 3,000 miles.

General comments?

Looks: I think this car has a very stylish look for a cheap sedan. Other cars in its class are the Grand AM, Taurus, Stratus, etc. I think this is by far the most stylish out in all aspects. I think the Grand AM GT looks corny with the brake lights and ugly lines on the side skirts, the Taurus is ugly and plain, and the Stratus is pretty nice, but the back end seems dull and is a bit higher priced. The Alero has interesting stylish braking lights, a sleek front end, and sleek sides that rise towards the back, because they are jacked up. It looks like a more expensive car than what it is. It looks sleek, not compared to a two door sports car, like an Eclipse, but definately for a sedan under 20,000 new.

Performance - I was extremely iffy about this before I test drove it. I think the 2.2 L 4 Cyl is slow. It just doesn't impress me at all, it's not worth driving. I then tried out a 3.4 L V6 and was very impressed with its pickup. I drive a Buick Regal Grand Sport Supercharged with 265-hp or so, and this 175 HP felt almost just like it. It drives very sporty like. This is by far my favorite aspect of the vehicle.

Comfort - I only like leather seats. I had cloth seats on my previous Chrysler Sebring Coupe, which was uncomfortable. I hated the limited leg room, so I had to get a sedan, but I didn't want a large vehicle like a Buick Regal GS or Pontiac Bonneville, etc. Extremely comfortable seats, everything is very accessible. It's leather.

Reliability - This is one place where Oldsmobile has lacked. I haven't had the car long enough for to decide that factor. I know there are many complaints, but since I haven't had any as of yet, it gets a 7.

The biggest pro is the performance for a 175-hp sedan, sporty.

The biggest con is changing the air filter. HUGE PAIN IN THE ASS!!
