2001 Oldsmobile Alero GL review from North America
"Love the car, but hate the reoccurring problems"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Front Tire Noise and blower resistor.
General comments?
It’s really sad that the comments on this site all talk about the same problems yet they span 4 years or more. You’d think GM would want to stop doing the warranty repairs. I feel somewhat better knowing I have company, but I did not buy my Alero to be in that kind of club.
I really do love the Alero and so far I have experienced only 2 problems… the first was the grinding rubber sound from the front tires right up until I replaced the high dollar factory low profile Goodyear Eagles with run-of-the mill After Market tires… what a sigh of relief to not hear that noise. How embarrassing.
The second problem was and now is again the blower fan resistor. My second resistor just crapped out in time for the summer and from the sounds of it, I will be replacing it many more times in the future… guess I need to learn how to do the repair my self and arrange to sell the car in the spring or fall so the unsuspecting buyer won’t test the heat or AC.
Haven't experienced the window thing yet so I guess I better fix the resistor before using the windows causes them to break.
