1999 Oldsmobile Alero SL review from North America
"Great car with a couple bad points"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
This car is great the only problems I have had (as a bunch of whiners noted) is that the wheel bearings go out every 50k or so. they cost about 90$ without a warranty from the local parts store or 120 with a one year warranty (which with as much as I drive I find I only have to buy them every other time because they are always under warranty from the parts store when they go out.
The other funny thing I read was people were complaining that their breaks and rotors are 1000 that is true for breaks all the way around and if you get the dealer specific ceramic pads. I buy the 20$ pads from the local parts store and the rotors from them and for example did my front breaks completely (even with new caliper mounts which you can get from auto zone) and caliper pins for about 150$ and 3 hours work if that.

| If you can get past the problems, Alero has potential: MUCH better than the Achieva it replaced! |
