I have a 1995 Aurora, and it has an unknown problem. when it a couple weeks ago it was working fine, then all of the sudden its R.P.M. dropped from 2100, to approx 1400. It doesn't sound like the R.P.M is dropping, but according to the gauge they are. Also when the problem happens, my car vibrates a lot, almost like my whole exhaust system is just bouncing around. I Brought it into a shop, they hooked it up to their comp, and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Has anyone had a similar problem?
It might be the crank shaft sensor. That is what reads the rpms.
I have a '95 Old's Aurora that currently has 112,00 miles. I bought it 3 years ago with 75,000 miles. Right after I bought it I realized that the fuel relay was bad (But since this doesn't affect the engine, I haven't done anything about it (about $85 part) ). I have had to replace the solenoids in the trans. This cost me $500. It was able to be replaced for that price because GM, within the past 4 years or so, has come out with a device that allows the replaced to be done without dropping the trans. I have a bad rear main seal (Common in this car from what I hear), but I'm not going to repair it because I'm not loosing that much oil (And it's a $2500) repair. I've been problem free for more than a year. Right now, my master cylinder is going. Also, if the engine is warmed up, then sits for 30 min or more, as I go to start it again, it struggles a little, but still always starts. I also have that problem, every now and then, with a hard shift from park to reverse. My heater doesn't work to well in temps 32 F or lower. I'll drive 30 min to work and it still doesn't get to warm. During the summer I'm going to check the heater core. Although it sounds like a list of problems, Only the solenoids have kept it from being drivable.
P.S.: If anyone notices that the fan speed for the heater and AC in the interior seems weak, let me know if this is typical or something else.
Hello, I just recently bought a 95 Aurora, it was involved in a front end deer collision, the damage was NOT major at all, it still needs a new hood, but that is only part of the problem. It will shift so hard when shifting into reverse, and bangs into drive as well. I drove the car from Florida back to Ohio with no problems on the highway (but still banging into reverse and drive when I stopped for gas and food). I do not know what to do. If I let the car sit overnight, in the morning it will drive like a champ for about 5 minutes, then it will hesitate (like it has a bad fuel filter or something), then it will stick into 2nd gear and not do anything else. I don't know about you, but hearing the roaring engine and still going 55 mph is not the kind of car I want. I need serious help here, I do not have the money to purchase a new transmission or the time. I am a college student, and in need of some help and guidance in this area. Please help me. You can email me at SilverSpyder33@hotmail.com, or SilverSpyder33@yahoo.com. Also, the starter, plugs wires, and ECM WERE RECENTLY REPLACED. PLEASE HELP ME with this issue!! THANKS!! Adam THIS CAR is STUCK in 2nd GEAR, neutral and reverse and park all work, but it is STUCK in 2nd gear. PLEASE HELP ME!!
I am thinking of buying a 2001 Oldsmobile Auroa. Very nice car. Test drove like a dream. I know nothing about these cars. 1995 Auroas sound like pretty crappy cars. Does anyone know if the 2001 Auroas are also junk? I've been wanting a Honda Accord or Nissan, but when I drove the Auroa it was so smooth and comfortable. Please help me out and let me know your opinion on the car before I buy and make a mistake.
Thank You.
In January I bought a 1995 Aurora from a friend with 175,000. I knew his family well and knew that they take care of cars. Midway through march, (2.500 miles into my ownership) I started the car and it was idling rough and was smoking badly. I asked a couple of mechanics and all agreed that it was the head gasket. My buddy and I replaced this and flushed the radiator and cleaned it with water. We also did a compression check and the compression was from 150-170 (the manual states up to a 30% difference is normal). We test drove it for about 15 minutes and the smoke cleared up and had a slight engine knock which we believed was from us not screwing the EGR hose back in which was nothing major to us. So we flushed the water out of the cooling system, put in antifreeze and started it back up. After the car warmed up, it was once again idling rough and smoking. We are stumped as too what the problem is. Our thoughts are either a cracked engine block, the bearings are blown, or antifreeze is leaking into the intake somehow. Other than that the car has been great. If you have any thoughts or comments please email me at soccer_pro0254@hotmail.com.
I have a 95 olds aurora with v8 4.0L engine 135000 approx miles.
I love the car overall, but...
I had had a multitude of off-the-wall codes for over a year - no big issue. Then one day I am driving along and go to accelerate and nothing. 2 seconds later my rpm's drop to zero and the car stalled. I tried to restart - the car would crank and nothing. After three days of diag by mechs, the fuel pump was replaced and codes disappeared. About a week later I took the car to the dealer for the fuel rail recall and three weeks after that took it back to the dealer because there was still the smell of excessive raw fuel. Dealer states the only sign of leakage was near the fill tube. OK. In the meantime I had not experienced any starting problems ---until today.
I get in the car and attempt to start. It just cranks and cranks, but does not turn over (starter replaced a year ago) - battery reads about 12.5. no security codes and no codes when the problem presented itself at 4:30 pm. Unfortunately now I have a check engine code. (couldn't quit trying to start it) I don't know what the code is as I do not have the equipment to find out.
I have cleaned the key just in case -- no help. I need to get this car fixed -- cheaply so I was hoping that someone could direct me as to where to go first.
Battery might be 4 to 5 months older than starter. I have replaced nearly everything on this car so far, but please let me know if I missed something.
I have 1995 aurora, and on hot days the car over heats, but its not in the red zone or even close to the red zone. i'll just be driving and i'll go to accelerate and nothing will happen, then the steering wheel gets stiff and the car will shut off, I've been 2 1 gm dealership, 3 auto shops and they can;t find anything! so if anyone is having or had the same problem please help.
I have 1995 Oldsmobile Aurora with 185000 miles. I got the car from the Auction. I have problem with the car running hot and sending the hot water into the Overflow container. I have talked to couple of auto mechanics and I was told that I will need a new engine. Please help.
I have a 95 oldsmobile aurora: I have had this car for about 4 years and had small problems, until after I received the recall on the gas lines. I took my car to the dealer to have the recall done and had to take the car back to the dealer the same day and for about a year I smelled gas and the check engine light came on so I took it back to the dealer and they put the car on the diagnostic machine but it read more codes then normal, they never could find out what was wrong. Now a year later my car caught on fire!!! Have these issues occurred for anyone else?
My 95 Aurora also has fuel smells after the dealer did fuel rail recall. Dealer claims nothing is wrong with recall effort and "thinks" it might be fuel pressure regulator, but wants $100 just to look at problem that appeared after recall performed.
Please help!!! I just got my 1995 Olds Aurora with a 4.0l V8 and it will bang hard when shifting into reverse. It also seems to be stuck in one gear. I can only go to about 40mph before she is raping up there. I think it may just be a shift solenoids or some thing along that line. Also the hard shift, could it be a mount? Please if anyone has any info on these problems please let me know. thank you. please e-mail me with any advise aetherton@hrpworld.com.
My 1995 Aurora just caught on fire due to backfiring while trying to start up. Something also blew up from under the intake manifold... I can't really see what it is, but it had a ring washer on it. If anyone would like to contact me concerning this issue, I can be reached at Tidothomas@yahoo.com.
My 1995 Aurora has been acting like the traction control is stuck when I get on the hwy and the car would not go over 40 miles per hour. If I was already going over 40 it would gradually slow down till it got there. If I would turn off the traction control when I turn the car on it would be fine so I did this for about a year and then when I was getting off the hwy. the other day and stopped at the light on the exit, it would not go like it wasn't getting gas. I could only get it to 20 miles per hour. Then when I got home it has been parked in the garage ever since. I cannot get it started. We changed the fuel filter, but nothing. I don't know what to do next. Change control module or what? Suggestions please. Thank you in advance. jmuizelaar@centuryae.com.
We have a 1995 Olds Aurora that has a starting problem - not the starter or alternator. Battery shows it has sufficient juice, but we cannot figure out where the problem lies. The battery of course is in the back seat... repair work was done to car a month or so ago... passenger fender and other parts were repaired bc of a door hitting the side of the car... and since then I am wondering if the positive cable which runs from the back seat to a bolt under the front hood was damaged. This ++ battery cable (between parts and labor) will cost $300 to replace because it is long and runs under the car from passenger back seat to the front. An unbelievable price for a simple replacement part on most other cars! It does start with a jump so now I am hoping the battery just needs to be replaced.
