Only one thing has gone wrong. One of
the fog lights failed and was replaced
immediately as a warranty job, with no
hesitation on the dealer's part.
The 2003 Aurora 4.0 is unquestionably
the greatest car that Olds ever made.
I feel that GM made a huge error by
stopping this car's production. If Olds
was selling poorly, then maybe GM was
justified in cutting Olds. But they
should have sent the Aurora to another
division.
I concur with your opinion on the '03 Aurora. It is a fantastic car that has a fantastic combination of looks, handling and power. All that has been done to mine which is approaching 40 000 miles is the water pump was replaced along with the crankshaft sensors. Too bad they are out of production, I would buy another one when the time comes.
I do agree with the idea of poor sales in the Oldsmobile division, but GM never really advertised Oldsmobile either. It was always Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick (Tiger Woods), and Pontiac. At this time I think if Oldsmobile were still in business, the new Cutlass prototype would have come out.
Can you imagine an '06 cutlass 442 with the supercharged 4.0 RWD? you couldn't just use the cadillac 4.4 because 4.0 says olds. if they did it right, they would sell a TON of them.
I own two Oldsmobile Aurora's. One is a 97' and the other a 2003. The 97' treated me so well I had to buy the last model year 2003. By far the best car (s) I have ever driven. They do have their inherent faults and short-comings, but all cars do, and the aurora's are relatively minor in comparison. Definitely a big mistake for GM to give Olds the boot.
I have a 2003 Olds. Aurora Final 500 series. It is a very nice car but is has a vibration problem in the front end at speeds between 65 and 75.m.p.h. This is also a common problem with many Cadillacs and Buicks. It has been in the dealerships about 7 times now and they do not know how to resolve this problem. There is a lower control arm replacement that may help but they refuse to install these because my VIN no. is different from the one in the Technical Service Bulletin. Never buy a G.M. car unless you take it for a test ride at 70 m.p.h.
