Hmm What would I say what "has" gone wrong well it seems "nothing" ohh wait I guess I had to change plug wires "hemispherical head engine" or as mopar weirdos like to say "HEMI" only "TWICE" the motor a "HEMI" Will ever be? If you don't understand the spark plugs go in the holes in the valve covers and the wires tend to "arc" out in the valve covers when they get bad.
This is a beautiful car and of course is not built on a tried and true GM platform like some of the 3800's and such, but definitely one of the most excellent cars that "any" manufacturer has ever put on the road I applaud oldsmobile for the effort and their generally high quality vehicle building style that has always set their cars apart from all vehicles built on the same platform. My 1996 Cutlass Supreme SL was a prime example of olds superiority over the other gm models as my dad went through 2 mid 100 hundred thousand +mile chevy lumina's or wait maybe it was 3 yeah I think it was in the time I had my cutlass (which I drove 200,000 before it got repoed) not that I have anything against chevys actually they are the last company I'd have something against. Just that the olds is unequalled. The Aurora is a Great Car and Deserves to be the flagship of such a fine company. My 98 Aurora which I am happy to say is going in the Shed Fall of 2004 to be forever preserved as a memory of what was once the finest company to ever manufacture a car on the face of this planet. I will be driving a $500 beater probably a grand am or a cavalier or if I'm lucky an S10 while my beautiful baby sits in the shed preserved perfectly. However, Like all true classics she will come out on those very special occasions either for a wash and wax or possibly that someone forgot what it was like to drive a MAN'S CAR.
I have a 1997 model and love it. best car I ever had. my last car was a 928 Porsche. It does not hug the road like the Porche, but then again it is a very comfortable easy driving car. My money has been well spent.
Well. to let all who care know. I have two Auroras right now, and one just sitting with an engine problem. I've had 4, one of which was totaled, but my 98 is pristine, rare rag top, maroon red, beige interior and only 29k miles.
I drive the silver 97, with 145k miles as my daily driver and the car rocks, its unbeatable and I'll take it over any other car anyday. Except perhaps a new Caddy. The motor in the Aurora is unbeatable, untouchable, and with a few simple mods like I've done, unquestionably quick. My daily driver has the audoban package so the speed limiter is set to 140mph, which I've met many times ;-). I love these cars and have had dozens. I've owned many brands, many cars, and none I like better than my aurora!
A "rare rag-top"? Ummm... In case you didn't know,
the car is a 4 door and the only make of 4 door
rag-tops would be Licoln. Say...1962...
There is no convertable Aurora.
The "rag top" is probably one of those hideous fake convertible roof coverings that fool no one, especially when the car has a moonroof.
