1994 Oldsmobile Bravada Gold Package review from North America
What things have gone wrong with the car?
-Transmission first went out a 63456, 456 miles above the extended warranty (not covered, $1245 fix)
Transmission was rebuilt and replaced over 6 times in the almost 10 years I owned the vehile totaling more than $10000 just in transmission repairs!
-Digital diplay went out 2 times totaling more than $2000.
-Engine was rebuilt once, and the injectors and fuel computer twice totaling more the $5000.
-I have invested more than $15k in this peice of junk which I paid $27,000 for in 93 being fully loaded. I just sold it to a kid down the street for $500 with one bad injector, bad trans, rough body, bad fuel pump, and other things.
General comments?
The 1993/94 Olds Bravada entered the SUV market craze in the early 90's, and was an instant hit with its standard 200 hp v6, antilock brake system, and smark track all wheel drive, and the vast list of standard options topping off a fully loaded blazer or jimmy at the time. In 93 and 94 only 3-4 options made this suv fully loaded at almost a mere $30000! While at a advantage of having awd, the traditional 4x4 linked with the reliable 4 speed auto, the bravada proved to be unreliable with a electronic trans up against its cousins the blazer and the jimmy. Being a new model, problems arose instantly, and the source for many of the problems was simply the lack of intelagence in the design department of GM. While the ABS sytems of GM vehicles surpassed many vehicles on the market at the time, many other systems from GM either proved unreliable or undermatched to competitors.
I have owned only one bravada and I will not buy another one at all!! Even late model bravadas have many of the same problems mine has had in the past 10 years. As soon as it was paid off, out it went, along with my wallet. I would suggest not buying anyyear of bravada no matter the mileage. Litteraly a peice of junk!!
