Mechanics seem to be unfamiliar with this particular engine.
Stalling - Turned out to be caused by its preference for better quality gas.
Four different machanics diagnosed the oil leak wrong.(even the dealership) It turned out to be an oil shaft and was fixed for 200$, verses other recommendations of rear seal and oil pan. I only fixed the oil leak ONCE when it was proved to me what it was. I think more people have problems with mechanics than they do with the actual car and parts.
An excellent car for comfort and power.
Good gas mileage considering large engine.
Very dependable at a good used price and will have good resale value.
Luxurious. All the bells and whistles including leather interior and a great stereo.
The car is great all around. The problem is finding a mechanic that is honest and knowledgable.

That's why I started doing my own car maintenance & repairs!
I agree the Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera is a very good car. It appears that finding honest and good mechanics is a problem all around. I suggest that comment pages relating to the performance of cars also included a list of ‘honest and good mechanics” to go along with it. That way we can keep the good cars good and the bad and dishonest mechanics away from them!
