This car has got to be one of the best sedans ever to roll out of Detroit! This car is very sharp, from its full-leanth landaue top, to its miles of chrome trim. mine is fully loaded, and is a deep burgandy red color. All the power options including the door locks, windows, seats, antenae, cruize, etc. work like new. The car sails effortlessly down the highway like a luxury yacht, you can't feel a bump or dip in the road. The interior is very impressive with its Cadillac Brougham De'Elegance style "Button Tufted" velure, and the heavy wood and chrome trim throughout. This car is built very solid, runs extreemly well, and is very reliable asside from just looking awesome. If you are in the market for a car that will get you from point A to point B through any weather, and looks like a million bucks doing it, than this is your car. These cars would also make excellent classic/collectors cars or summer cruize cars because of their style, class, and sharp looks. These cars treat you so well, that they are definatly worth any repairs expenses, and the higher gas costs. Mine does get about 20 city and 25 highway. Not bad for its size and weight. I absolutly love my Olds!
"Best sedan ever built!"
- Maybe the best 1985 sedan ever built. By 21st century standards, it's a pterodactyl!
Yes, but it is a comfortable, reliable, distinctive pterodactyl that still flies!
This car is awesome! Don't be hating on a classic. No new cars even come close to these Oldsmobile’s styling, comfort, and presence. There's just a certain classy feel to the faux wood dash and dark claret velour that cars like Lexus and BMW just lack. Nothing can ever beat the growl of an American V-8. This is a car that anyone should be very proud to own. There are endless possibilities of customizations that can be made to these cars, both subtle and flamboyant. The GM Crate 350 motors also swap in extremely easily. You could realistically get a Delta 88 up well over 300 HP and still have it be a mostly-stock daily driver for a $3,000 investment. Aside from its Cadillac Fleetwood brethren, this in my opinion is the sharpest looking, and most fun to cruise in car ever built. I am not ever getting rid of it, ever. And yes, I am a Dale Jr., Nascar, country western loving Redneck, and proud to be one.
The transmissions are two small for the 307 with the 4 bbl rochester carb. Very easy to blow out the trans.
Just an update- The car has 101,000 miles on it now. Still has the original 307 and original TH200-4R transmission that shifts like new and has never been fixed or re-built. The car leaks nothing and burns nothing. I recently re-built the carburetor, and had the car professionally re-painted. The car looks and drives as if it has 1,000 miles on it and not 101,000 miles on it. I absolutly love this car and recommend one to anyone interested in having a nice older car. Also, I plan on replacing the stock wheels and chrome wire spoke hubcaps with some late 1960's chrome 442 rally wheels just to set it apart from the rest. These are such sharp cars and drive so nice.
I got my 88 about a year ago with over 200k miles on it. The only thing to ever go wrong was the water pump. After that fix I haven't had to fix anything on it, always starts right up and gets me where I need to go. I love this car.
