2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue GX review from North America
"Good looking, well made car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
At 103,000 kilometres the engine light would come on intermittently and car would be hard to start, also intermittently. Dealer charged me an hour to say they werent sure what the problem was,,, while my local mechanic charged me nothing to diagnose problem,,, which was the camshaft position sensor, and then proceeded to fix it for only $127 plus tax. Solved problem 100%.
Otherwise the brakes needed complete overhaul, new rotors and pads, at 70,000 kilos. Shop around cuz rotors very pricy. Engine burns half quart of oil over 8,000 kilos.
General comments?
This is the best sedan under $30,000 GM has made in recent memory. The engine is very lively,,, and gives good mileage on highway,,, very thirsty in town, but a big six will do that. I have a bad back and the seats treat me really well on the long haul. Stock stereo is decent, and I put michelins on it to quiet down the road noise from the good year factory tires.
