I have a 2001 Olds Intrigue GL, and have had intermittent problems with the headlights flickering (going completely out for 3-4 seconds) including the dash lights. I took it in to my dealership that I purchased it from and they replaced the alternator per Service Bulletin 01-06-03-001A. On my way home from the dealership tonight after having a new alternator put in- it still does it! Only now it's more frequent and happened three times before I got home! This to me is a MAJOR concern! I found on mycarstats. com that this is not a random occurence and it's been happening to other people since they came out in 2001! This is my only problem I have had with this vehicle-I love driving it! (Also I hope this is what will fix it, but I found online that "Headlight problems on the Intrigues are due to wiring that has become dried up and is craking off, thereby creating shorts inside the headlight/turn signal assembly. Repair will require new headlight assembly wiring harness." I am taking that info to my dealership and hopefully that will fix it!!
I really like this car, it's comfortable, handles great, so far has been dependable (except for the headlights flickering), it's fun to drive!
Check the wiring of the light switches connected to you headlight switch in your dash board.
I have a Dodge Shadow that had the headlights go out after long trips. Short in the wiring melted the plastic junction box.
I am getting a 1999 Intrigue soon.
