The only thing that is wrong with the car is that I cannot drive it due to colour coding here in the Philippines. Nothing's wrong, everything's perfect, it has so much power that it even beat a BMW 316. My previous car was a honda 1.6 140hp, stock, it cannot beat my astra thus, the astra has only 100hp. Super secret power car.
This car is seriously quick, I feel that whenever I overtake it's so quick I cannot even count the time it takes to overtake the car. There is no power below 2500, but when I'm at 3000 rpm, bye bye cars, hehee. Due to its modifications like the air filter and free flow, this car is a super car. And we're planning to have it chip tuned. I've always wanted a Opel Speedster Turbo, the father of Opel Street Cars. Damn it's fast. It's just that we don't have it here. We have compared it with my Honda Civic 1.6 140hp, it cannot beat my astra in any aspects, like 0-100, topspeed, 1/4 mile. I really love this car. Japanese cars are not that fast compared to German cars. "You Rule Opel" Mighty Astra.
Got a pre-owned 2003 astra wagon 1.6 last feb. 2006. the riding and driving comfort is superb compared to japanese cars in its class. it grips the road on curves!! "revs" well on second gear and gives me the power I need to pass other cars.
I get something like 8.5 to 9 kms to a liter in city driving. I was able to get 10kms to a liter in one of my out of town trips (freeway cruising).
I just wished it was more "sound proof" inside.
We also have a 2001 Astra G Caravan (Wagon) and it handles really well. It does take curves really tight, but am still looking for more power on the high end.
Seems like it could use a "chip" up and I've heard that this engine can be boosted from 125 bhp to 142-158 bhp.
The fuel consumption is a bit high as it is, but would really like to see this Astra go.
Heard a Zafira OPC hit a record speed at the Nurburgring last month, so a Wagon cruising at 180-190 kmph should not be too bad!!!

I have an Opel Astra Wagon automatic transmission model 2001. I realize that its speed is twice than my Lancer. When I overtake I will use Sports mode for more extra speed. It runs as quick as you can.
What is (s) on the automatic gear?
Wow! You are such a diehard Opel Astra Fan! Well, me too! You have put 10/10 for fuel efficiency, although I am sure that my Astra is fully optimized. It is doing about 7 KM/L in the city (1.6 auto); I am a bit disappointed with that, because the reviews claimed about 15 KM/L! Anyway, aren't the seats a bit too hard?
Astra 2001 is a very nice car. I like it,,, less fuel consumption with high power,,,,, thanks to Opel company.
