1994 Opel Calibra 16v review from Greece
"Tune it and you will have a great race car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The car was OK. Needed only a standard service.
Only the turbo wasn't in a very good condition that's why I have changed it.
Changes I have done for increasing performance:
-Changed intercooler with a handmade 8 litre
-Changed turbo with a T3
-Changed all hoses with Samco hoses
-Changed fuel pressure
-Changed radiator with a bigger one
-Changed air induction system
-Changed exhaust system (70mm, no cat)
-Changed spark plugs
-Changed pistons with new lower compression Akralyte pistons
-Changed ignition leads with Magnecor leads
-Reprogrammed ECU to work with 1.5 bar standard turbo pressure.
-Changed wheels with 17"
-Changed clutch with Sachs
-Changed suspension with H&R 25mm lower springs and Group N Bilstein shocks.
General comments?
The car runs fine with around 315 bhp.
I don't know if the gearbox can stand all the power, but I have no problems yet.
It worths the tuning so if you want a cheap race car that can kill easily other cars that cost 4 times more just go for it :)
