1974 Opel Rekord 1900 review from Spain
"With enough money to restore it could be a nice classic car :)"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The Car starts making weird noises in the rear part from 60mph (100kmh) to the top. Suspension had to be replaced by new one in the 80.000km, not so bad, but really impossible to find a replacement. Got to pay three times the real price for new carburetor (coming from an old Opel kadett)
Fuel tank pisses off, it got rusted before the 50.000 km (first owner admitted it to us). And then it had to be replaced 3 times more till the 100.000km's (aprox. date of death).
More than 6 tire-punctures in 8 years of usage, I think that's a lot. Suspension unstable in the curves at more than 50mph...
General comments?
This car is really pretty, nice coupe style, 100% European, it called the attention everywhere I used to go (in these times Spain was a country of lily-cheapy cars and 50cc motorbikes, lol)
Nothing more to say.
Just it's a nice 70's classic sports car, (very very rare) but ONLY if you find money to restore it, and it means about 5.000 euros (4.500 US dollars)
