Slight dashboard upholstery rattle near triangular windows in the front.
After 3 months from purchase replaced the arm holder between front seats.
Parking aid sensor faults.
So, as I got married and my family grows in vast numbers I decided to introduce myself with the growing array of family cars or MPV-s. The first thing I did was little price and feature survey of MPV-s in my local market and as you can guess the winner was Opel Zafira. Actually you can't get a 7 seater MPV priced like Opel Zafira. All those Mazdas, Peugeots, Toyotas, etc don't get close to those features at the same price level than Opel Zafira. As I aimed to the top of the line model my only disappointment was that "thigermans" do not produce Zafiras with automatic air conditioner and Parking Aid System (they told me that this particular option is for German market only!!!). So I got this desired parking aid (as my wife likes to park too) by ordering a original spare part kit. So, the only problem what stayed was the manual air conditioner. You can imagine my wife endlessly ordering from the back seat to set various temperatures because of our babies...: (
But the car itself is a good value for money. This car solves all my logistical problems. And the bottom line is - all are happy, even my mother in law who sat in the third seat row for 4 hours. Don't ask how I got her out...
I would like to know how the dashboard upholstery rattle was rectified. I have got the same problem with my Zafira.
Regards.
Henk Martens.
I would also like to know how the dashboard rattle was cured as I now have one on my 2002 Zaffy Elegance 2.0 DTI (Extremely Annoying!!)
I also have a Zafira from July 2001. I got an 1.6 litre engine.
The engine needs very much oil. Every 1000 kilometres I must fill a litre of oil into the engine. Maybe does anybody know how this problem could be ended???
I hope so.
Greetings from The Netherlands, Utrecht.
My work mate and I have zafiras, and the oil level is a problem especially if you put the pedal down. my mates car is a 2001 comfort 1600 and mine is a 1800 elegance 2000 but he had a near accident as had his wife when the brakes failed with the first touch of the pedal. the car was brought in to a garage and there was no air in the brake lines and the car was hooked up to a computer for faults with the ABS, but to no avail. can anyone help here as this is a worrying problem.mrblue@utvinternet.com.
Hi good car, but the oil consumption is rubbish on the dti and
when you think you are out and put more in, wait for a time as it will come down from where it has been sat and you are right
in the middle of it, it then pushes the extra oil up over the inter cooler through the turbo, that is when you then see oil coming out of the gaskets at the top of your engine!!!
Most people think this is the turbo is going / its not, its the oil killing your engine and giving you lots of bills.
Replace the gasket and don't put so much oil in!!!

Hi guyz; good to hear all these comments. I was about to buy the zafira 2002 but I've been in doubt all along because I am in Namibia. I don't know how to get the parts as our zafiras are imported from overseas. The rumour was always (about) parts. The dealers make their promises all the way. Do you think its really a good car aside from the price?
Thanks!

I have a Opel Zafira 2.0 Elegance..
I'm so happy with this car.. It's perfect. Me and my family love this car. I don't think I'm gonna change it until I must really have to :S
Hi. While I am thankful for the comments made here, there are no responses. Perhaps I am just not seeing them. Please change the format so it shows both the comment and the answer or reply to the comment- otherwise we are left with just a lot of questions.
Thank you.
