1998 Peugeot 106 Rallye review from UK and Ireland
"Fantastic rocket for a low cost"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The transponder immobiliser became faulty, requiring the key to be removed and reinserted prior to starting.
The sender unit was replaced under warranty.
The radiator split at around 27000 miles, due to be replaced with and aftermarket item (non Peugeot equipment due to inflated costs).
General comments?
The car is the most fun to drive I have experienced, handing and performance are great. The car fortunately lacks the 'boy racer image' of similar cars on the market, and due to limited numbers is fairly exclusive.
Motorway miles can be a little noisy due to the lack of sound insulation, but this is a minor point when comparing the fun that can be had while driving on quiet back roads.
