1992 Peugeot 106 XSi review from UK and Ireland

"A pocket rocket that doesn't like slowing"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

General repairs due to age included front discs, all 3 sections of exhaust, cam belt, rear brake cylinders and tyres.

Ignition Module developed fault at 78000 miles.

General comments?

Firstly, let me say this car is fantastic to drive.

The steering is precise and responsive and the high levels of grip enable you to throw it into corners with confidence.

Although the relatively small capacity of the engine means that you do have to use a lot of revs to get maximum performance.

When I bought the car it was mildly tuned with a K&N air filter and a power boost valve which added an extra few break horse power and saw it fly through the revs in any gear.

Once you do open the throttle this little car really does take off with enough poke to see off most other traffic.

Despite the age of the car the gearbox still feels light and accurate making it easy to use both around town and when you want to have some fun.

Coupled with an excellent chassis and suspension that is firm, but never harsh you have a car that accelerates brilliantly and corners like it's on rails!

The only downside I have found with this car are the brakes.

They just don't match the rest of the car's sharp performance. Although capable of stopping the car they feel spongey and have a fairly long travel.
