Forget nova and corsa, they are sluggish, you want a crx vtec, now that's fast!!
Nova and Corsa handling better than a 106? You must be having a laugh as the GTi is one of the best handling FWD cars out their to date!
Everyone who knows about their cars, know that Vauxhall build fast cars in a staight line, but forget about the suspension set-up!
Just compare the Nova GTE and Corsa GSI to the 205 GTi and the 106 GTi for handling! You will find that both Pugs are light years ahead of the Vauxhall's.
I have just bought a peugeot quicksilver for my first car! what modifications should I add to produce more bhp and make it sound more sporty? any suggestions? cheers!

Swap it for a Gti mate! With the cost of trying to gain more power from the 1.4 engine to a respectable out-put, you will probably find out that in the long run, it would've been easier and cheaper to get the Gti.
Obviously if you want it to sound better, then get a sport back-box and a sports air filter! This will give you about 2-4 bhp, which is not a lot, but will make it sound miles better!
Would the man from glasgow please let me know where I should meet him one of the next few weekends. I have 2 cars, a run about 106 quicksilver (standard) and it's not super fast, but it's a run about, which incidentally is what its designed for. My other car is a 1999 M3 Coupe putting out 496bhp at the wheels. So come on mate, I shall race your imaginary 106 quickie with 326 at the wheels. and we'll see who wins? Or maybe (as I suspect) your 326bhp quick, doesn't exist. To everyone else on this forum, keep racing, don't let anyones comments get you down.
:-)
A 106 Quicksilver with 326 brake at the wheels. Almost fell off my chair when I read that. They put out 75 as standard, so assuming you have tuned the original engine, there is no way on this planet you will get 326 brake at the wheels.
My mates 106 GTI has had a complete uprated engine rebuild and complete remap. Costs £7000+ and he still only gets 180 at the wheels.
Think you have been reading Max Power quoted figures.

Hi,
i have recently bought a peugeot 106 zest 3 for my first car.
After reading this forum I would have looked at buying a VTR instead, but now am looking to tune my Pug to make it faster.
I already have a full exhaust system and sportex backbox without middle silencer, and have also got some exterior mods, nothing for performance though.
What would you lot suggest I could have done to make it about as fast as a VTR without spending £1000s?
Viper air filter?
Turbo?
If so what type etc...
Thanks 4 ur help!!!
Don't bother with a turbo, every1's car is their own lol, surely if your happy with how fast it is that should be enough, its not all about bhp anyways its Bhp/weight ration that's important.
No I'm not happy with how fast it is...
My mates want to race me soon, and they have MG ZR, and the other a Saxo VTR... I want to blow them away...
Any suggestions?
What difference will the following make:
Superchip?
De-cat pipe?
Air filter?
Help people???
Thanks x.

You'll end up blowing the engine on the little banger, best thing to do is save up some money and buy a proper hot hatch a few years down the line, it's the best way. No point wasting money on modding a car that is pathetically slow, it won't make much of a difference.
Yes, thanks for that helpful input mate.
Well you would already have a weight advantage, so try to expand on that, make it lighter still! You don't want to go mad on a non sporty model so go for the cheap simple mods, definitely do the de-cat/exhaust, maybe chip it, and those ram air induction kits are quite effective.

Thanks.
Do you, or anyone here know where I can get my hands on a chip then and how much its going to set me back?
Any specific brands or whatever that will help maximise the benefits for a Pug 106 1.1?
And also, the de-cat...jus take it into a garage and ask? how much will that cost?
Wheres my lada turbo 0 to 60 in 2 seconds it will beat all the cars mentioned in this post!
Hahahaha, This has been the funniest thread I've seen in a long time.
Peugeot and Citroen are both part of the same group (PSA - who I happen to work for, so yes I do know what I'm talking about) and therefore the Saxo and 106 are virtually identical.
The QS is the same as the Furio and West Coast - made to look good, but slow as hell. They are 1.4 8v 75BHP.
The VTR was 1.6 8v 90 BHP for the earlier ones (which is the same as the 106 XS) and 98 BHP for the later ones.
The GTi and VTS are exactly the same. Both 120 BHP 1.6 16V. The VTS isn't quicker than the GTi, and it isn't lighter either. (OK maybe it is about 1KG lighter due to no leather in the VTS, but nothing worth noting) The Peugeots usually have better suspension setups than the equivalent Citroen.
The best of the lot has only been mentioned by one person in this thread. That is the series 1 106 Rallye. The engine was built only for this car and is not used in ANY other PSA car.
It's a 1.3 8v with high lift cams and a close ratio gearbox, as standard pushing 100BHP (for a 1.3 that is impressive). It revs to 7200 RPM and will beat ANY of the other citroen/pug cars mentioned in this thread around a track, (that does not mean strait line) due to the fact it weighs about 825KG's. There were only 1000 made in this country and a lot of them have been crashed. They were only made so Peugeot could compete in the group N and A rallying sub 1.4 litre car class.
The Series 2 Rallye is 103BHP 1.6 8v.
The 1.4 XSi is 95 BHP (with cat) or 100 (without) and is quicker than a VTR, Quicky, West Coast or Furio.
If you're young, and insurance is an issue, then the car you want is either the 1.6 XS (90BHP) which is only ins group 6, or the series 1 Rallye (100BHP) which is ins group 9.
To the guy with the bizillion BHP Quicky; 1st of all it would be impossible to get that much power out of the engine.
2nd of all, even if you did, you wouldn't be able to put the power down and it would be useless.
